Conestoga
Pony Club focuses on English-style riding in these disciplines:
Horse & Horse Care Knowledge,
Dressage, Stadium Jumping,
Cross Country (Eventing),
Tetrathlon (Running, Swimming, Shooting,
& Jumping)
What we do:
We
conduct knowledge training meetings during the winter months. These are fun get-togethers, but also
incorporate learning at all levels.
Learning can range from the beginner learning colors & breeds,
to the advanced member learning diseases, horse management, and training.
We attend regional competitions, where
the youngest members are mentored by older members, and intermediate
members compete as a team, promoting camaraderie. Qualifying individuals can join with
members from other clubs to compete at national competitions each year.
Competitions are fun and low-key.
We organize an affordable, one-week
summer camp at a local private farm, where campers take care of their own
horse for the week, have daily instruction,
and participate in fun activities, like swimming in a pond with your
horse!
Where it is:
Conestoga
Pony Club activities are conducted at member houses & local
stables. They can range from York to
Manheim to Quarryville to Fair Hill, MD.
Regional competitions are in Western NJ, Southern MD or Southern
Delaware – about 2-3 hour drive.
What you’ll need:
While
Pony Club members do not need to own a horse, they’ll need access to one to
fully enjoy the membership. Horses
need to be trailered to mounted activities.
Approved helmet & boots are required,
and all tack must be safe & serviceable. We’re not fancy!!
What it costs:
Low annual dues (under $150) cover a membership pin, some activities, and
insurance. Most unmounted activities
are free. Group lessons with top
trainers are conducted at reduced rates (rates vary by instructor &
location). We try to have discounts
for multiple children in one family.
All activites are optional, so you
control your budget.
